If the beauty of the great outdoors and experiencing nature is something you enjoy, then the Master Naturalist Program may be for you.
OMN volunteers receive in-depth training in ecology and natural resources, taught by recognized experts in their fields. In return, volunteers provide outreach service through physical and educational activities.
The program offers a series of 4 day-long workshops which will cover basic ecological processes, aquatic, riparian, and urban ecosystems - including forestry and wildlife. Participants will also be able to attend advanced workshops/field trips, focusing on the state’s most outstanding areas including the Tallgrass prairie, Cross Timbers, eastern woodlands and others.
To attain and maintain Certification, volunteers must complete a minimum of an additional 30 service hours within the first year, and 20 hours each subsequent year.
There is a charge of $50 to help meet handout material costs and other expenses. This fee includes: name tag, binder with materials, drinks and snacks for breaks, drinks and service for the pot luck lunches.
