As a Master Naturalist....

Do you love the sound of bird songs and want to know who's singing?
Do you want to know how to identify native plants and use them in your landscape to attract birds and butterflies? Do you love nature and want to learn more about natural resources right here in Oklahoma? Then join us as a member of the Oklahoma Master Naturalists! We are a group of volunteers dedicated to learning about and preserving Oklahoma's rich biological diversity and sharing this knowledge through education, outreach, and service within our communities.

As a Master Naturalist, you will have the opportunity to learn about Oklahoma's diverse plant and animal life and natural heritage through field trips, specialized trainings, and monthly presentations. We enjoy the fellowship of other "like-minded" Master Naturalists who like to get outdoors and enjoy Nature!

Look What’s Coming Soon!

Join your fellow Master Naturalists on a field trip/advanced
training to the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve (TGP) in
Osage county north of Pawhuska.

This 38,600 acres owned by the Nature Conservancy comprises the largest continuous stretch of protected Tallgrass prairie on the continent.

Dr. Mike Palmer of OSU’s Botany Department will be making a presentation on grassland ecology in the morning. After a picnic lunch at the TGP’s Research Station Dr. Palmer will lead a tour of the Preserve. We should be able to view the spring wildflowers and hopefully see this year’s crop of baby bison.

So reserve Saturday May 17th for this adventure. We are extending a special invitation to the NE chapter members. Everyone is invited to bring their family. We plan on renting a van so RSVP as soon as possible to Kristy Wicker  kristy_wicker@yahoo.com

Member Spotlight Needed!

Get to Know Your Fellow Naturalists!
With a group as large and diverse as the Oklahoma Master Naturalists, we have many members deserving of special recognition.  In light of our resent surveys, it seems some of us aren't sure what our fellow members do or what their special interests are.  In order to get to know each other a little better, we thought it a good idea to begin a Member Spotlight for our web sight and Newsletter to help correct the problem.  Please do your part by nominating a fellow member, or yourself and share with us.  To further this process along, take a moment to fill out the member form and share your likes and interests with the rest of us.
